Marching to Madera, supporters from Stockton, Santa Clara, and Fresno, including University of the Pacific students, swelled the march to about 300 people. Barred from U.S. Highway 99, they covered 20 miles on county roads. Once in Madera, dinner was offered by the Madera Community Service Organization, and local residents opened their homes to the marchers for the night. (Go to Day 11)
