Children in union meetings

As an organizer, César Chávez learned through his work at the Community Service Organization (CSO) to emphasize that the UFW was not an organization of men, but of men, women, and children.

Jessica Govea recalls the impact of this kind of organization when she was a child and her parents were active members of CSO: “We all went to the meetings,” she said. “The children didn’t speak up in the meetings, but we heard, and we saw how our parents worked with other people who were like them.”
