William Kircher of AFL-CIO backed the NFWA position and clarified that AWOC would acknowledge NFWA’s representation of DiGiorgio’s workers, abstaining from participating in the elections. Despite repeated delays in negotiations, elections on August 30 at Sierra Vista Ranch in Delano resulted in the victory of the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee (UFWOC)<\/a>, the new organization formed following the merger of NFWA with AWOC. The DiGiorgio contract was later signed in 1967.
