Barred from U.S. Highway 99, they covered 20 miles on county roads. Once in Madera, dinner was offered by the Madera Community Service Organization, and local residents opened their homes to the marchers for the night. In Fresno, they met Mayor Floyd H. Hyde at City Hall, had lunch in Roeding Park with live music, and received food donations from residents.
