After walking for 15 miles and despite facing some protesters wielding Schenley liquor (the boycott target of the National Farm Workers Association, NFWA), marchers reached Cutler and received local support. That day, James Farmer, ex-director of the Congress for Racial Equality (CORE), encouraged Stanislaus State College students to join the march as it passed through Turlock. (Go to Day 7)
